The Transmed World Cup 2023 tournament continued with the semi-final matches, after the excitement of the quarter-finals. The semi-final matches were played in a final-like atmosphere, attracting great attention from the spectators. Lebanon A team faced Turkey, while Morocco played with Ivory Coast.
In the first semi-final match, the favorites of the tournament, Lebanon A team, took on Turkey. Besides the competition on the field, there was also a rivalry among the fans outside the pitch. The supporters of both teams showed their support with chants and songs. The waving flags, chants, songs, and compositions made it feel like a World Cup atmosphere. In the early minutes of the match, both teams had their chances, with Mohamad Maatouk being influential for Lebanon A and Hasan Hüseyin Demir for Turkey. The balance was changed by a goal in the eighth minute, scored by Elie Hanna, one of the key players of the tournament. Lebanon A team, maintaining their superiority in the game, quickly found their second goal. Elie Hanna struck a powerful and effective shot from distance, finding the back of the net (2-0). Lebanon A team, displaying the same performance as their team on the field, had the support of their fans, which was a significant strength. Reflecting their rehearsed passing game onto the field again, Lebanon A team increased the lead to 3-0 with a quick attack by Hussein Hammoud. However, the second half witnessed a reversal of fortune. Turkey, fueled by their belief and supported by their fans, raised their game and quickly scored a goal at the start of the second half. Hasan Hüseyin Demir, one of the tournament's top scorers, produced a beautiful goal (3-1). Following the goal, Turkey increased the pressure both on the field and in the stands. They were awarded a penalty and equalized to 3-2 with Hasan's goal in the 24th minute. Lebanon A team, aiming to respond tactically to Turkey's attacks, shifted Hussein Hammoud back as a defender by transforming their defensive line into three defenders. Lebanon A team's tactical plan paid off as they closed their goal to any more goals and became the first country to secure a spot in the final with a 3-2 victory.
In the other semi-final match, Ivory Coast and Morocco faced each other. The match was anticipated to be a clash between the defensive strategies and defensive style of play that had caught the attention of all participants throughout the tournament. The first 15 minutes ended 0-0, as expected. Y. Ajjaj, the goalkeeper and captain of the Morocco team, was one of the key players with his performance and leading the solid defensive organization. Ivory Coast had their opportunities through their striker Baho Rodrigue and Satchie Franck in the first 15 minutes but failed to capitalize on them. Ivory Coast's talented scorer, Die Christian, managed to score his goal when he escaped Morocco's tough defense, giving his team a 1-0 lead. In the second half, Morocco maintained their composure and started to play better compared to the first half. Their star player, A. El Mahdi, began to make an impact by scoring a goal. Boosted by the early goal, Morocco started to play with more confidence. A. Mandour and Y. Bousenna improved their performances, shifting the balance in midfield in their favor. Demonstrating better team harmony, Morocco managed to take the lead 2-1 with Y. Bousenna's goal. They managed to come back without losing his concentration during the match. It was very valuable and important for them to achieve this, especially against the Ivory Coast team, which did not concede any goals in the group stages of the tournament.
